HMB (hydroxymethylbutyrate) is a bioactive nutrient from the group of short chain branched fatty acids, recognized by some sources as a vitamin-like factor (similar to vitamins), occurring naturally - in small amounts - in food as well as produced in the human body in as a result of transformations of one of the branched chain amino acids - leucine.
